Dog Meets Dog

Parks and check-ins

Find your home park, see who is there, share park updates, and join park events in Dog Meets Dog.

Dog Meets Dog brings park activity into one place. Use the web park directory or the mobile Park tab to find a park, see its community, and coordinate time there.

Find a park

The web Parks page combines a map with a ranked list. Each park entry includes its name, address, and community singles rating; parks are ordered from the highest available rating. Open a park to see its rating and how many registered dogs have selected it as their home park.

In the mobile app, the Park tab can show:

  • Grid — dogs whose home park is this park
  • Map — browse parks and select a different park
  • Live — current check-ins and play invitations
  • Reports — recent park updates and reactions
  • Events — upcoming park events and RSVPs

Set or change your home park

Choosing a park is the final onboarding step. Search or browse the Google Places map, select a park, and Dog Meets Dog saves it as your home park. From the mobile Park tab, use the map view to select another park when you want to switch.

Check in

A check-in lets other members know that you are at a park. Sign in, choose We're at the park!, and allow foreground location access when asked.

Check-ins use a server-enforced 200 m GPS geofence. Your coordinates must be available and within 200 m of the park; missing location data, an unverifiable park location, or a position outside the fence rejects the check-in.

Your live presence is visible to members for four hours. The park's Dogs here now view shows each active dog's name, breed, photo when available, and how recently they checked in. If there are no check-ins in the last four hours, the view invites you to be the first.

Automatic check-in

Automatic check-in is opt-in. When you enable it and grant foreground location permission, the mobile app watches your position while it is in use and can check you in when you are within 200 m of your active dog's home park. It is best-effort and does not replace manual check-in; you can always check in yourself.

Come Play invitations

Before checking in, enable Come Play (shown as Invite others to play in the mobile app) to invite nearby matches and park subscribers. Add an optional message of up to 140 characters. After the check-in, you can cancel the active invitation. Other members can respond On my way or Maybe to an invitation.

Badges and birthdays

A successful check-in can award badges. The app shows newly earned badges with their name, icon, and description, and the Check In screen keeps your earned badges grouped by category. Seasonal badges are marked as limited or time-limited.

When today is your dog's birthday, Dog Meets Dog can award the Birthday Pup badge. The Matches screen can also highlight a matched dog's birthday; choose Send a birthday bark to open that match's chat.

Park reports and reactions

The Reports view contains visible reports from the last 24 hours. Create a report with a short message (up to 280 characters) and one of the available emoji tags. Reports show the author's dog details, timestamp, and paw-reaction count. Tap the paw to add or remove your reaction; you can also report a park report.

Park subscriptions

Use the bell on the mobile Park tab to subscribe or unsubscribe to a park's notifications. A subscription is separate from your home-park selection, so you can follow activity at another park without changing your home park.

Park events and RSVPs

The Events view lists upcoming and active events at the park. Members can create an event with a title, optional description, emoji tag, start and end times, and an optional attendee limit. The start time must be in the future and the end time must be after the start time.

RSVP with Going, Interested, or Not going. Choosing Not going removes your RSVP. Going is unavailable when an event has reached its attendee limit, and the organizer can cancel their own event. Event creation requires your 18+ age consent to be confirmed.

Web park pages

Web park detail pages include the park rating, home-park dog count, member check-in, live presence, and park events. You must sign in to check in or see who is currently checked in.
